In this essay I am going to be writing about the development and how the play of MacBeth could improve. Also, speaking about how the language has changed from then to now and what the changes in past and modern English is.All of this is based on the question,’To what extent is MacBeth a tragic hero or just a butcher.
Firstly,I would like to talk about how MacBeth was too scared to be able to kill guards or even do anything that includes murdering or abusing anyone. He normally would leave all the dirty work to lady MacBeth because he’s scared. But also on the other hand he’s changing so much in a few weeks. For example he was so scared about bein able to go and murder people but now as we were reading this we found out he wasn’t a very nice person like at the start.Right now on most of the last few scenes MacBeth isn’t the same person as we saw at the start. He was nice and that at the start but right now he’s all different. He’s a murderer, scary and disrespectful man from before when he was kind, respectful and happy;he’s scary disrespectful and annoying now than from before.
From the question asked,’To what extent is MacBeth a tragic hero or just a butcher?’ I would answer for a fact that he is now a butcher. This is because he kills for fun with no reason to kill. Also, finding people anywhere to kill not caring who it is.
This makes me think about how dangerous this man and how much of an assassin he’s changed into. Also,he’s not only hurtin people he hates but adding onto that abusing and murdering the people around him. It’s like he’s addicted with doing this and it’s like this is his hobby/job to be going round killing people.Evidence to back up my point in why I would say he is a butcher is the saying in one of the scenes,’Come, put mine armour on;give me my staff.’ By this quote it shows us that he is prepared and ready to kill anyone in his way and nothing is in his way to stop him.
Other people may think the same because it is clear in the text that he’s changing from one person that is scared to do things for example murder, attack or insult people to a guy that loves murdering and hating people. This may be because people were hating and putting him down by hating and not wanting him around.
He eventually got tired for example in Act 1 Scene 5 because he was getting pushed around by Lady MacBeth and decided after a few scenes, that he needs to change and not allow anyone to be pushing him around because at the end of the day he’s the King and every order of his should be respected and those who choose to go against it should be punished for not wanting to follow or respect the King’s orders. Also, showing that in Act 3 Scene 4 it’s saying,’Thy blood is cold.’ Which is showing that people’s hearts are cold for example, they don’t care about anything around them and disrespect anything to anyone they don’t like or don’t know.
- As time changed,so did MacBeth;he showed no guts to do nothing before but right now he’s showing his true dark side and is showing how scary and how he can get respect off anyone or else he murders them or he would take them as prisoners. Another point I have is that he is not a person you would like to meet or want to be your friend.Do you want to know why? It is because one minute he could be your best friend, the next day you could be his worst enemy and he would want to kill you for no reason for you to be killed. Therefore you wouldn’t want these types of friends that will want to kill you any moment in the most unexpected time.
- Adding onto that MacBeth shows that he is trully King and nothing stopping him or getting in his way. This is by the way he’s demanding the witches to tell him the truth and if they don’t he will curse them and therefore the witches were made to tell MacBeth because he’s gone stronger and scarier than before.Like before he was all quiet and didnt want to do nothing but now he’s just doing everything to make his kingdom listen to him and respect his opinion. This is shown in Act 4 Scene 3 saying,’Deny me this and an eternal curse will fall on you.’
- These are the main points of my opinion in the question,’To what extent is MacBeth a tragic hero or just a butcher.’ Others may disagree with my point because of other reasons but in my opinion I would say that my reasons would be more explained and detailed because I’m using quotes.

Good starting point here Leo which gives your point of view but we are missing some key aspects of a Literary essay.
Targets:
1) We must have evidence from the text to back up your points.
2) We need to explore different possible effects that are created by the evidence.
