In my opinion I would say that the most effective piece of figurative language is that the way the author creates the children. This makes the readers think that the children are confusing and that the parents wont get it.
I say this by the evidence from the speech which says ‘Children are carpets.’This is because this creates many different images in the readers mind. For example they could be thought as useless and not capable for anything. Also,it could be trying to say that they are quiet and/or getting stepped on (being picked on.) Or also other pictures that the readers might have in their head.
The author uses a lot of effective language in this story.I say this because there is a lot of adjectives in most descriptions. It creates a feeling that children are being shown as disgusting and useless and just a waste of time.
